Several people have been shot in a hospital in Chicago, police in the city have said.

Officers are responding after reports of shots being fired inside and outside Mercy Hospital on the city’s South Side.

There are “reports of multiple victims”, police say – but they have not given a number or said how severe the injuries are.

According to ABC Chicago, one suspect has been shot.

The hospital is being partially evacuated, reports say.

Footage from the scene shows one person being taken by emergency services into a waiting ambulance.

Television footage showed several people, including hospital staff, walking through a car park with their arms up.
